Join the Cherry Run Cardboard Club, Fall Session 2022-23! |
The Cardboard Club is for CRES students in grades 2-6. It is sponsored by the Cherry Run PTA and taught by Mrs. Rodas in the Art room.
Club Description: Design and tinker with us in this hands-on active workshop. Students learn cardboard attachment techniques and 3D design skills using cardboard, cardboard cutters, duct tape, glue guns, brads, craft wires, and other fun materials. The emphasis is on process over product. Students can bring their creations home or leave them at school to work on individually or in a group from week to week.
Safety precaution: Because we use low fire glue guns and cardboard cutters, gloves are provided for each student and are required to be worn at all times.
Club time: Before school 8:20am – 9:05am (we meet at the lobby doors at 8:15am)
Days of the week: Choose Tuesday or Thursday mornings
Dates: Tuesdays Sept 27 – Dec 6 (no club on Nov 8) or Thursdays Sept 29 – Dec 8 (no club on Nov 24).
Cost: $100 for the 10 meetings in the Fall session. Cost includes all supplies, taxes and insurance per student.
Sign ups will be through a Signup Genius link sent in an email from the PTA around mid September.
Please be sure you are registered for the PTA Weekly Highlights in order to receive the signup email.
NEW THIS YEAR:
1. This year the Cardboard Club sessions will run by season (Fall, Winter, and Spring) and will meet 10 times/session (instead of 6 times in previous years) to allow more time for students to work on their creations.
2. For the Fall session, five slots will be reserved for students who have never been in Cardboard Club before. The remaining slots are for new or returning members. If the 5 new member slots aren’t filled within 3 days then they will be opened for anyone to sign-up.
3. Due to new club size restrictions implemented by the FCPS Community Use office, students will only be able to attend on their assigned club day. Students will no longer be able to attend the alternate club day when absent (except in special circumstances such as multiple absences).
