What does the PTA do?

Welcome to the Cherry Run PTA

Whether you are a new family or returning to our school, welcome to Cherry Run! The Cherry Run PTA is an excellent way to connect with the school and our community. We are dedicated to providing educational enrichment, supporting the many needs of the students and teachers, and building an active and informed community!

Why should I join the PTA?

The Cherry Run PTA relies on the support of its members (that’s YOU!) to provide exciting and meaningful programs, activities and support to students, teachers and families throughout the school year.

Benefits of joining the Cherry Run PTA:

  • No Student-Directed Fundraising (no door to door or catalog sales of wrapping paper, food or magazines!)

Our students are already so busy, your child will not be asked to raise funds   during the school year!

Receive discounts for CRES activities and for valuable services and products from the National and Virginia PTA

  • Get Connected

Find out about important events and issues at Cherry Run; meet other parents, teachers and school administrators with whom you can share ideas and concerns

As a Cherry Run PTA member, you will also be part of the Virginia PTA and National PTA; you have a voice at the local, state and national levels!

We rely on your support to provide so much! 

  • Events like the Fall Family Fun Night at Burke Nursery and Bingo Night
  • Engaging assemblies by Theater Companies, Magicians and Storytellers
  • Hundreds of New Library Books AND SO MUCH MORE! 

Here are just some of the things that PTA membership funded during the 2016-17 school year:

  • The purchase of 240 new books for the Cherry Run library
  • Major curriculum events in every grade (Holidays around the World, Native American Day, Chinese New Year, Colonial Day, Greek Day)
  • Student Council Association and Safety Patrol activities
  • Bus transportation costs for field trips
  • Assemblies and Grade Level Programming (VA Repertory Theatre productions, Native American Storyteller, Reptiles Alive, Superhero Math Magic Show)
  • Reimbursement for professional training and classroom supplies
  • Monthly staff appreciation activities
  • Fun family events including the Back to School Bash, Fall Family Fun Night at Burke Nursery, Donuts with Dads, Bingo Night and much more
  • New Families Welcome Events
  • Dr. Seuss themed spirit activities for Read Across America
